CULTIVATING JOY: Circumstances vs. Choice

Life hurts. Young or old, bad things happen to good people. How do you deal with physical and emotional trials, loneliness, or devastating loss—and the sadness that often accompanies them? The adage, ‘Don’t worry, be happy’ doesn’t help. Join us to explore how to emerge from the gloom that we all experience at times to purposely find moments of light that lead to an abiding sense of joy, despite difficulties.

About the speaker

Always an avid learner, Brikena completed degrees in accounting, bookkeeping, and a master’s in business management. Even after studying theology for two years in the US, she imagined always living in a cosmopolitan city like Tirana, Albania, where she grew up. What a change to live in Trogen AR, married to the International Director of Helimission. Raising three children, and later teaching primary school, and continuing to work in her husband’s humanitarian outreach, has fulfilled her immensely. She has also experienced deep heartache, and her journey back to joy has much to teach us.
